I've always been a sucker for sports shows with Ping Pong and Hajime no Ippo being two of my all time favorites. When i first heard about it kinda flew under my radar even though it's Production I.G (Kuroko, Haikyuu, and Ace of Diamond) and has Yuki Hayashi. I've never been so happy to be so wrong about a show that I thought would be some run of the mill nakama fest but instead I get an incredible cast of characters, great ost, and something that isn't a chore to watch (which has been a lot of shows for me as of late). If you were like me and read the synopsis and pushed it aside, you owe it to yourself to go back and give it a chance.

14 episodes in and I like it more than I did Haikyuu at this point and that show got me hyped like nothing else.tl;dr is a great show that somehow manages to get better every week. It's criminal I don't see more posts about it. In the episode discussion threads comparison to Haikyu is often mentioned, like it is on par with Haikyu quality. They share a lot so no wonder. But for me who stopped watching Haikyu around episode 6, this show feels very different from sports anime I watched. It is not hype-every-episode-on-the-edge type of show.Perhaps the most thing catching me currently is how this show shows they LOVE the sports they are doing: Running.I watched all Hajime no Ippo and loved it, but this type of show needs opponents to beat, or sempai to follow. The sports itself is like a medium in which protag/antags compete. That is great formula to show how characters represent themselves through these sports and interact each other. But in Kaze, often I see the focus of the show shifts into running itself, not to compete to others.

I think this is the best episode of Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru among all, after a few months watching this anime, I know very well the prince's struggle until this time, there's a special pride when.

Perhaps because it's how running works. It's interesting that until this point of the showAlso the maturity of characters should be mentioned, they are university students not highschoolers. And they actually act like that. But for me who stopped watching Haikyu around episode 6, this show feels very different from sports anime I watched. It is not hype-every-episode-on-the-edge type of show.Perhaps the most thing catching me currently is how this show shows they LOVE the sports they are doing: Running.Interesting you mention that element because thats also a big part of why Haikyuu is so great. Yes there are competitive rivalries but most of them just want to play the match, it's not so much winning to say we're the best, it's the ability to stay on the court for one more match. They even utilise arcs where it's about 6 rival teams all training together and they all help each other improve, giving them tips and teaching them moves, because its a love of the sport and facing tough opponents they love above all. One characters arc is even about learning to actually love the sport.Probably the wrong thread to just be gushing about Haikyuu but your point made me think it was worth mentioning.

Haikyuu is probably my favourite series in general and Run with the Wind is still on pace for a 10/10 for me right now, I do think they share a lot in common in terms of what makes them so enjoyable.. This show continues to deliver and I just can’t get enough of it. Seriously, one episode each week is a torture.Being someone who loves Haikyuu like no other and a devote Production I.G and Yuki Hayashi’s cult member, KazeTsuyo kinda got my attention. The English title’s catchy too; Run with the Wind—Doesn’t that just sound beautiful?I was sceptical at first, though. For starters, KazeTsuyo doesn’t get phenomenal score on MAL, and I was under the impression that, ‘there’s no way this show could be as good as Haikyuu.’I wasn’t that hooked at it at the beginning because almost everyone seemed disinterested in running, which is of course the theme of the show. I just somehow got quite disappointed when the athletes in sports anime don’t possess extreme passion and ideals.

(Idk I’m just attracted to hot-blooded characters).Boy oh boy, KazeTsuyo slapped me hard with its awesomeness. The characters all grew on me. And Haiji saying “Are only the chosen ones allowed to run?” made me realise there’s a solid reason why the author placed all these amateurs, disinterested guys as the stars of the show! They grew, and became as passionate as Kakeru and Haiji, even the Prince! It still baffles me up til to this day why MAL failed to appreciate this phenomenal show. I just can’t think of any reason how KazeTsuyo deserves to get a score lower than 8!I don’t think I can say which one I prefer: Haikyuu or KazeTsuyo. They’re both excellent shows, each carrying unique underlying philosophies wrapped around by the same ‘sports’ genre. I wouldn't even check this show out if I hadn't known it's from the author of Fune wo Amu then animated by the same studio who did Haikyuu.

I hate running but somehow Run with the Wind became the show I look forward to the most every week thanks in no small part to the characters and their growth. I liked it so much I picked up the book and watched the live-action movie. How Production IG will present the next 9 episodes remains to be seen but if they stick to source and craft it well like they did for the past 14, it will surely be an emotional ride. So I've catched upto the latest episode. Faster than I intended to.

My first reaction was why the hell is Kageyama in here lol. So it does reminds of Haikyuu in a way.Yes the characters are great. When they win you get the feeling that you have also won. Music is right on point. Last few episodes were a blast! For me it is not as engaging as Haikyuu for first few episodes atleast. Maybe because I can't relate to the characters as much, but more they run more you like them.Even if this is a slice of life anime and ends soon I still like this and will definitely recommend it.
